9 Tips to Survive the Zombie Apocalypse
I wanted to have a little bit of fun with this post today and share 9 tips to survive the zombie apocalypse.
While the chances of zombies wanting to eat your brain is slim to none, who knows what the future holds, right? And, if you don’t use your brain you WILL lose it.
1. Be Ready to Kill (Even Those You Love)
Okay so we might as well go straight in with the facts. If a zombie apocalypse were to ever really happen, some of those that you love WILL become infected. I don’t care if it’s your parents, your friends, your children, husband or wife. Whoever they are now, they won’t be the same people once they’re infected and you need to be willing to take action without hesitation. Don’t worry about hurting them, they’re already dead remember. Kill or be killed!
2. Protective Clothing
This is not the movies and you can’t go around splattering zombie hordes while wearing your normal clothing. After all, when the infection first starts spreading nobody will know exactly what has caused it so you need to be careful. This being said, no matter the cause you will need to protect yourself. Do what you can to find a respirator, gloves and/or hazmat suit, and if you can’t, find whatever you can to cover up. Stock up on hand sanitizer and antibacterial soap and avoid touching anything without good reason.
Sure, you could walk everywhere but what’s the point in that when you can get where you’re going much faster via other means. You could drive but that will require gas and vehicles make too much noise which will draw unwanted attention from those that want your brains. If you really want to drive be sure that you are stocked up on gas but only travel when needed and choose a vehicle that will have no problem smashing through the hordes.
4. Get Your Supplies Together
Whatever you think you are going to need, you are going to have to get a lot more. Think about supplies such as:
- First aid equipment
- Food and water
- Anything that can be used as a weapon
Stay away from the big stores as these are going to be the places that everyone else are headed. These are also not the places you want to be when the infected start taking over.
5. Where Are You Headed?
You can’t just grab your stuff together and run without a plan. Everyone else will be doing that and that is exactly what is going to get them killed. The roads are going to be clogged with vehicles that are going nowhere. If at all possible you want to stay as close to home as possible. With empty streets in your area you will see every little thing that moves and have chance to act. If your home is safe, stay there and barricade yourself in. Only leave once things have died down and you actually have a chance to get somewhere safer. Head for mountainous regions where there are less folk to become infected thus slowing the rate of infection.
6. Ready, Aim, Fire
The closer that you have to get to the zombies, the more chance you have of becoming infected yourself. You are going to have to kill if you don’t want to be killed yourself so you need some weapons. The more, the better. Long range weapons are your best bet but as long as it will do the job, anything is better than nothing at all. If all you have is a knife or a machete, attach it to a broom handle and swing that baby. If you can find bottles of alcohol, rags and a lighter, you’ve got the means to create molotov cocktails.
7. Don’t Let Them Creep Up On You
If you turn your back you lose, it’s as simple as that. If traveling solo you have to constantly be checking around you but as a group it becomes much easier to all have your back together so that all directions are covered.
8. Form Two Lines
On the subject of having a group, you can also form two lines one behind the other if you all have guns. With this position, the front line does the shooting and when they need to reload their weapons, they move back while the others move forward to start their attack.
9. It Isn’t Just the Zombies You Need to Worry About
Sure, those zombies are after you but humans can also be very unpredictable especially when they are not prepared enough and want something that you have. Never assume that others can be trusted or will join forces to take on the zombie hordes and always approach them with caution. This also goes for the members of your survival group who would have a much easier time stealing your supplies when your guard is down.
There you have it! Stick to these rules and you just might make it after all.
