If you are in a hurry, then check out two of our favorites from the list. One is our all-time best but is more expensive compared to other flashlights. The second is a much more budget friendly option.
  • Anker Bolder  – the best budget friendly option. UK/US
  • Maglite RL1019 – best overall. UK/US

Maglite RL1019 LED Rechargeable Flashlight – Best Overall

  • Lumen Output – 643 lumens maximum output, low 148 lumens, eco 66 lumens
  • Runtime – 37 hours maximum runtime, 17 hours on low, 4 hours on high
  • Weight with Battery – 28oz

Maglite is one of the most trusted names in flashlights and the RL1019 certainly doesn’t disappoint. It is powered by a rechargeable NiMH battery pack (included) and has a maximum beam distance of 407 meters and a brightness of 643 lumens. This makes it ideal for most applications.

The great thing about the RL1019 is that it is also water and drop-resistant, making it ideal for outdoor use.

This particular model has three main modes: full power, low power (148 lumens), and eco (66 lumens). Runtime is four hours on full, 17 hours on low, and a nice, long 37 hours on eco mode.

Additional features include strobe, SOS, momentary-on, and a quick-focus beam that can go from spot to floodlight with a simple turn of the flashlight head.

Included with this Maglite is both a wall and car charger. It is durable, bright, and versatile.

This is both heavier and bigger than many flashlights which means it is not something you could just carry around in your pocket. It’s backed by a limited lifetime warranty.

Anker Bolder Tactical Flashlight – Best Budget Friendly

  • Lumen Output – 900 lumens max output
  • Runtime – 6 hours
  • Battery Type – 1 x rechargeable high-performance 3350 mAh batteries

You don’t need to spend big money for a fantastic bit of equipment when you have the Anker LC90 around. The light will last for around 6 hours on this flashlight before it needs to be recharged with a 1A adapter (not included) and micro USB cable (included). Another good point we liked about the Anker LC90 was it’s size as it can easily fit in your pocket and is light in your hands if you need to carry it the distance.

This product gets great reviews on Amazon for its durability and affordable price. It is also IP65-rated water resistant and designed for use in heavy rain. Its durable aluminum body and shock-resistance endure rough handling.

  • Runtime – high – 1 hour 30 minutes; low – 6 hours
  • Weight with Battery – 49.9 g
  • Battery Type – standard alkaline batteries or their custom Coast rechargeable batteries

If you are looking for something that is a little more compact then look no further than the Coast HP3R Penlight. Don’t let the size fool you though as this is one high-quality rechargeable flashlight. It weighs in at only a couple of ounces and is only .7 inches wide and under 6 inches long, and it comes with an attached clip that makes it easy to attach to a pocket or shirt neck to keep it handy. Don’t want black? No problem as they supply the Coast HP3R in a variety of colors. The maximum output is 245 lumens which makes it perfect for those little jobs around the home or vehicle. Runtime is up to 6 hours on low or 90 minutes on high.

The Coast HP3R is water-resistant and has a unique, easy-to-use “flex charge system” that means you don’t have to mess with any sort of charging docks. Instead, the batteries can stay in the flashlight while they charge via a USB cord that can be plugged into the wall directly. Another major feature of this penlight is the twist focus system that is more commonly only found on much larger flashlights. Just twist the flashlight head to adjust from a spotlight to a flood beam. It’s also backed by a lifetime warranty.

Streamlight 88052 USB Tactical Flashlight

I must admit I had not tried a Streamlight flashlight until I got my hands on the two here today but they’re great. The 88052 USB Tactical Flashlight offers the convenience of charging via a USB cord connected directly to the flashlight itself.

This one offers up to 850 lumens and can also use CR123A batteries when there is no electricity for a recharge. The 88052 USB Tactical Flashlight is water-resistant (not waterproof like the HL-X, however) with a sliding sleeve that keeps the USB port from getting wet or dusty. The anodized aluminum case is impact-resistant. There are high, medium, low and strobe modes; maximum runtime is 1.5 hours on high and 12 hours on low, while maximum beam distance is 200 meters. It’s 6.5 inches long and comes with a pocket clip and holster. It’s backed by a limited lifetime warranty.

It also runs on either a rechargeable lithium-ion battery that can be charged directly in the flashlight or two alkaline CR123A batteries, so you can have reliable power no matter where you are.

This high-end Streamlight 88065 features a momentary-on option as well as high, medium, low and strobe options. Runtime is 75 minutes on high, three hours on medium and 20 hours on low; maximum beam distance is 330 meters.
